The total child care demand generated by all families in Prince Edward and
Lennox & Addington Counties is estimated to be a minimum of 2,740 spaces
- 2,310 spaces generated by couple families
- 430 spaces generated by single parent families.

A minimum of 500 children in Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington families and
a minimum of 330 children of single parent families are eligible for subsidized child care.

Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington generally has higher percentages of the population with low education and other risk factors.

Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington couple and single parent families claim significantly less child care expenses for income tax purposes than their Ontario counterparts.

Number of spaces can vary depending on demand and special circumstances PECCS and LARC are licensed to operate 25 Child Care homes with 5 spaces in each home depending on the ages of the children. Licensed Child Care homes vary from 10 – 14 with 3 – 5 children in each home. A significant number of children/families are accessing child care in the neighbouring communities of Belleville and Kingston.
